Originally from the Dominican Republic, Dr. Peña received his medical training at St. Barnabas Hospital in The Bronx, New York and was named “Resident of the Year”. Due to his strong leadership aptitudes, he has served in the capacity of Chief of Medicine, Chief of Staff, Board Member, and Chairman of the Board for various local hospitals, organizations, and associations. He continuously credits his great mentors and peers for the success of his learning journey.
Dr. Peña, visionary leader, is Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Director, and Board Manager of RGV ACO Health Providers, LLC. He also leads the Utilization Committee.
Mr. Martinez was born and raised in Yakima,Washington. He is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he spent the majority of his time as a Surgical Technician. After his Honorary Discharge he went on to work as a Firefighter before deciding to make a career change. He graduated from the University of Washington Physician Assistant Program in 2013. He worked 1 year at Northwest Orthopedics in Washington State before moving to the Rio Grande Valley in 2014. He has spent the last 3 years working Internal Medicine in Mercedes, Texas before joining our practice.
Mr. Martinez has absolutely loved his time thus far living in the RGV, and is happy to make it his new home. He is a dedicated provider who is passionate about the community and patients he serves. Currently he resides in Edinburg with his wife Michelle and son Maximilian. He enjoys spending his free time serving in various ministries throughout the Diocese of Brownsville and competing in Ironman Triathlons.
Ms. Marquez is a native of the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse from UTPA in 1994. She worked at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in Oncology, Surgical and in the Emergency Room. She later became med-surg certified by the ANCC from 1996-2006.
In 2002 she returned to UTPA to receive a BSN in Nursing and continued to work in the hospital setting in different critical care departments. In 2005 she became the Director of Nurses and co-owner of In-Home Health Care.
In 2011, she received a MSN from UTPA, and became a member of the National Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau, and began working as a Nurse Practitioner in Internal Medicine and Family Practice.
Ms. Marquez joined the Donna Medical Group in the fall of 2015, and is pleased to be part of the Donna Medical team.
Mrs. Rodriguez is a lifelong resident of the Rio Grande Valley who loves to serve those in need and give back to her community. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of TX – Pan American located in Edinburg, Texas. She then attained a diverse and invaluable nursing experience in various areas including, Intensive Care, Acute Care, Home Health, Oncology, Administrative roles, and Project Management. After 15 years of dedicated work in the nursing profession, she pursued her Master’s degree in Nursing at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she received her Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and is Board Certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She aspires to be an innovative practitioner that delivers high-quality, compassionate care to tend to the growing needs of the local and surrounding communities.
“As a FNP I am directly involved in promoting holistic care to bring positive change through collaborative engagements involving strategic planning, implementing evidenced-based practices, and supporting self-care efforts. I am dedicated to serve others and work towards breaking barriers that inhibit health.” Ms. Rodriguez joined the Donna Medical Group in the spring of 2017.
Mrs. Madelaine Garcia was born in Minnesota. She traveled to several states while growing up and settled in the Rio Grande Valley in 1980.
She attended and graduated from McAllen High School She obtained her BS in Nursing from the University of Texas Pan American in 2001 She worked as an RN in the ICU, Home Health and Hospice and then joined the RGV ACO in 2012 while pursuing her Masters Degree.
She graduated with her MS in Nursing in 2014 from The University of Texas Pan American.
She enjoys providing compassionate care in the community as a FNP
Ms. Barrera was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley.
Ms. Barrera graduated from UTPA in December of 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
Her nursing experience includes Telemetry, Emergency Room, and care for patients in long term
acute care facilities such as Solara & LifeCare. During her time at DHR, she was part of the IT
training team that assisted in implementing electronic medical records.
In May 2013, she graduated from UTPA with a Master’s of Science in Nursing. Since then she has worked in internal medicine and family practice. In June 2015, her passion for providing quality care and education to patients with diabetes mellitus lead her to become board certified in advanced diabetes management through the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
As a new member of the Donna Medical Team, she looks forward to providing quality care and serving the community.
