Originally from the Dominican Republic, Dr. Peña received his medical training at St. Barnabas Hospital in The Bronx, New York and was named “Resident of the Year”. Due to his strong leadership aptitudes, he has served in the capacity of Chief of Medicine, Chief of Staff, Board Member, and Chairman of the Board for various local hospitals, organizations, and associations. He continuously credits his great mentors and peers for the success of his learning journey.
Dr. Peña, visionary leader, is Chief Executive Officer, Chief Medical Director, and Board Manager of RGV ACO Health Providers, LLC. He also leads the Utilization Committee.
Mr. Martinez was born and raised in Yakima,Washington. He is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he spent the majority of his time as a Surgical Technician. After his Honorary Discharge he went on to work as a Firefighter before deciding to make a career change. He graduated from the University of Washington Physician Assistant Program in 2013. He worked 1 year at Northwest Orthopedics in Washington State before moving to the Rio Grande Valley in 2014. He has spent the last 3 years working Internal Medicine in Mercedes, Texas before joining our practice.
Mr. Martinez has absolutely loved his time thus far living in the RGV, and is happy to make it his new home. He is a dedicated provider who is passionate about the community and patients he serves. Currently he resides in Edinburg with his wife Michelle and son Maximilian. He enjoys spending his free time serving in various ministries throughout the Diocese of Brownsville and competing in Ironman Triathlons.
Ms. Marquez is a native of the Rio Grande Valley. She graduated from nursing school as a registered nurse from UTPA in 1994. She worked at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in Oncology, Surgical and in the Emergency Room. She later became med-surg certified by the ANCC from 1996-2006.
In 2002 she returned to UTPA to receive a BSN in Nursing and continued to work in the hospital setting in different critical care departments. In 2005 she became the Director of Nurses and co-owner of In-Home Health Care.
In 2011, she received a MSN from UTPA, and became a member of the National Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau, and began working as a Nurse Practitioner in Internal Medicine and Family Practice.
Ms. Marquez joined the Donna Medical Group in the fall of 2015, and is pleased to be part of the Donna Medical team.
Ms. Barrera was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley.
Ms. Barrera graduated from UTPA in December of 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
Her nursing experience includes Telemetry, Emergency Room, and care for patients in long term
acute care facilities such as Solara & LifeCare. During her time at DHR, she was part of the IT
training team that assisted in implementing electronic medical records.
In May 2013, she graduated from UTPA with a Master’s of Science in Nursing. Since then she has worked in internal medicine and family practice. In June 2015, her passion for providing quality care and education to patients with diabetes mellitus lead her to become board certified in advanced diabetes management through the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
As a new member of the Donna Medical Team, she looks forward to providing quality care and serving the community.
Mrs. Trevino is a lifelong resident of the Rio Grande Valley who has spent the last nine years working in family practice in Mission, Texas.
Mrs. Trevino graduated from The University of Texas Pan American with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She subsequently received her Bachelor of Science in PA Studies in 2009, and her MPAS in 2010. Mrs. Trevino is board certified by The NCCPA.
Mrs. Trevino joined the Donna Medical Group in the spring of 2018 and is pleased with the opportunity to provide compassionate, quality healthcare.
Ms. Belinda Castillo is the newest member of the Donna Medical Clinic and is excited for her opportunity lead her patients down the path of better health. She was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley and has over 15 years of experience in the medical field. Her dedication to providing patients with nothing but the best care and guidance was cultivated through her strong family upbringing. While adhering to those strong familial values of both love and faith, Ms. Castillo treats all her patients with the utmost respects so that she may not only heal them, but also impart some education to them in order to improve their overall health.
She earned her Masters of Science Degree from The University of Texas- Pan American in 2010. She is someone who works with patients from all walks of life, Ms. Castillo has worked in various levels of the health field: such as a Registered Nurse for the first half of her career and is currently a Nurse Practitioner with experience in both Family and Internal Medicine settings as well in mentoring university students. She treats everyone to the best of her ability and has a lasting impact to those she meets.
